What to do on Game Day


On Game Day

If you signed up for a game or games on CGI - SIGN IN - so the referee staff and Division Director know you're there! If you didn't sign up previously - please see if there are open slots you can help fill in.  Make sure you note which team you're earning points for!

6U Game Officials - is it your first game ever?
  • Check in at tent 15 minutes prior to your game assignment 
  • Have on your game official shirt
  • Comfortable shoes for running
  • If a hat - then baseball type only and black - no advertising - no inappropriate logos
  • Avoid wearing sunglasses if possible - it can be intimidating when speaking to children
  • Have a wristwatch. Not a phone. Not a stopwatch around your neck or otherwise.
  • Have a Whistle
7U & 8U Referees
  • Check in at the Tent 15 minutes prior to your game assignment.
  • Have on your referee shirt 
  • Comfortable shoes for running
  • If a hat - then baseball type only and black - no advertising - no inappropriate logos
  • Avoid wearing sunglasses if possible - it can be intimidating when speaking to children
  • Have a wristwatch - not a phone, not a stopwatch.
  • Have a whistle
10U and up - is it your first time doing 10U?
  • Check in at the Referee Tent 20-30 minutes prior to your game - properly attired as a referee
  • Referee shirt tucked in
    • If it's a shirt with a spot for a badge - have the badge on
  • Black referee shorts - the ones supplied to you - not gym shorts or multi-colored
  • Referee socks pulled up
  • Black or predominantly black or dark shoes
  • If wearing a hat - baseball style only and black.
  • Avoid wearing sunglasses if possible - it hinders communication and can be intimidating when speaking to children
  • Whistle
  • Wristwatch - Not a phone, not a stopwatch on a lanyard
  • Coin
  • Referee wallet and scorepad
  • Pen or Pencil

Please try to avoid wearing sunglasses unless required for medical condition
It hinders communication with your referee crew and can be intimidating when speaking to children

Back-to-back (Center) Referee assignments are not recommended.

Make sure you allow enough time between referee assignments to arrive on time.

Everyone - when finished:

  • Fill out the game card and turn it in to the Division Director.
  • Make sure to note any negative sideline behavior on the game card - be specific about teams and participants.
  •  Make sure all the referees note their names on the card and which team each of you are earning points for.
    • If you aren't turning in a game card - Make sure you note the team you want to credit on the schedule at the table
