Referee Training

For all new Referees - steps for returning referees too!

**** Please read the instructions on this page carefully. COMPLETING the steps IN ORDER - is not just important - IT IS REQUIRED. If you don't follow the instructions here - all your interactions will be frustrating. ****

To become a referee, please do the following 4 steps. 

  1. Submit the volunteer form - whether new or returning
  2. Complete the online classes - whether new or returning
  3. Complete the In Person training - You cannot attend if you don't complete steps 1 & 2.
  4. Register as a referee so you can sign up for games

Note - As noted above - the following steps are sequential - do them in order

Step 1:  COMPLETE YOUR VOLUNTEER FORM 

- To get to the form  
- Go to www.ayso39.org and click the "Register Now" button in the upper right corner 
- You'll be on the Blue Sombrero page
- Either log in to your existing account or create a new account (you must have your own account
- Click on the "Volunteer Opportunities" tab, and fill out the form           

Be sure to write down or note your AYSO ID where you can reference it later.

IMPORTANT -  No training can be taken if you have not completed step 1. Your volunteer form must be approved.

Step 2:  COMPLETE THE ONLINE CLASSES

Log in to https://aysou.org with your same credentials.  Click on “Online Courses” in the top red bar, or scroll down to “Online Courses” and click on “View your Enrolled Courses”. All referees whether new or upgrading take the following three online courses:

* Safe Haven - about 30-45 minutes.
* Concussion Awareness - about 30-45 minutes.  Required every two years.
        * Sudden Cardiac Arrest - about 30 minutes
Next - if you are a:
         * New 6U referee - Take the online  "8U Official Course" (yes 8U) 
 * Upgrading from 6U or New to 7U, 8U or 10U - Take the online "Regional Referee Training".   


IMPORTANT
-  
All online courses must be completed BEFORE you are permitted to take the Live Referee Course.


Step 3:  COMPLETE THE LIVE TRAINING

IMPORTANT - To get credit
for attending, you must register for the course online BEFORE the course starts. The system locks all users out at the time the course begins. The instructor will not be able to add you to the roster. Follow this link for a detailed guide to signing up for in-person training.


* All Ventura training classes are held at the Region 39 / Ventura office.

Note: 
You can also choose a different time/date or location - if you cannot attend one of the region 39 dates. 
You will need to follow the above steps, but if you were unable to attend classes and still want to referee - please contact the referee administrator directly, options may be available but limited.

Step 4: When you've completed your training - sign up to referee!

- Register as a Referee at http://www.cgisports.com/ref/5189/.
-  Select: Please register as a referee now
- If you are new, your badge is Regional
- For Team #, Select the team(s) you intend to give your points to.
